This architect designed Mid Century bungalow needed a contemporary family garden to complement its design style.

The front garden was kept very simple and designed to compliment the mid-century style of the house, the planting palette was limited to allow for low maintenance and maximum impact. Four Magnolia stellata’s were under planted with an evergreen ground cover to give the front garden a strong visual impact as well as providing key views from the house.

In the back garden the planting was more natural and wildlife friendly. The client had very specific likes and dislikes which we designed the planting palette to suit.

A small orchard area under planted with bulbs sits at the back of the garden and a large family terrace comes off the house. Different zoned seating areas for different times of day were designed into the scheme as well as a small vegetable garden, play area and chicken run.

The materials used within the garden design were chosen to suit the period of the house. Where possible we reused the existing stone that was available to avoid waste and keep costs down.
